When it comes to renovating bathrooms, one of the most common questions a homeowner will normally ask their contractor is “How do I make this little room look and feel bigger?” Now, unless you want to tear down walls, add square footage, and do a major renovation to your home, this may seem impossible. But if you are working with a creative and innovative Tampa Bay bathroom remodeler, they may have some ideas that will surprise you. One of these forward-thinking ideas is to install a modern glass shower enclosure, which will serve to open up the space in your bathroom and make everything feel bigger and more luxurious.

While making your bathroom feel bigger is a great benefit to installing a glass shower enclosure, there are many additional advantages. For starters, glass enclosures make your bathroom feel much more sleek, modern, and elegant. They also do wonders when it comes to showing off the tile pattern on your shower wall, which is especially important if you are renovating your entire bathroom with a completely new look. And if you really want to make a change that will both modernize your bathroom and create more space, try ripping out that old tub you never use and replacing it with a modern shower, complete with a brand new glass enclosure style that fits your taste.

There are multiple different glass shower enclosure style to choose from to fit any style and budget. Here are some options you might want to discuss with your Tampa Bay bathroom remodeler:

Framed Glass Shower Doors

Framed glass shower doors

This is your most basic and economical option when it comes to a new shower enclosure. Often used as a replacement for shower curtains on a bath/shower combo, these metal-framed doors have a traditional feel to them. They come in a wide range of ready-made sizes that should fit your application, many of which are available as either swinging doors or sliding doors. They are also available in a selection of glass styles and metal trim colors, which will help if you are retrofitting your shower as opposed to renovating your entire bathroom.

Frameless Glass Shower Enclosures

If you want to show off the tile work in your shower, a frameless glass enclosure is the way to go. This is a more modern option, making it extremely popular with homeowners who have done bathroom renovations in recent years. Frameless doors are also your best choice if you really want to make your bathroom feel larger. Made from safety glass that usually ranges from 3/8” to 1/2” in thickness, these enclosures can be held in place with a special sealing or heavy hinges that you can select to match the rest of your bathroom. You can also choose from many glass shade options, resulting in a beautiful, modern glass shower enclosure that you’ll love to step inside of.

Other Glass Shower Enclosure Options

Whether you choose framed glass shower doors or a frameless glass shower enclosure, there will be certain options you may want to consider. For example, if your shower is in the corner of your bathroom, you may want to go with an angled shower door instead of squaring it off. This not only looks super modern, but also saves some space in the room. You also may want to select a specialty type of material for your enclosure, such as coated glass, which is much more resistant to soap and water deposits than standard glass.

I am getting tired of the slimy shower curtain. This glass shower door could be the answer. Are there any special measurements that need to be taken in order to get the right shower door?

For a simple shower enclosure, i.e. wall to wall, one that you would purchase off the shelf from Home Depot or Lowes, width & height measurements should suffice. If you are wanting a more refined custom look with a frameless enclosure, your fabrication/installation company will take care of all the measuring.
